Introducing the sexy: LIME OIL *** Hair Care & Skin Care ***

After watching a few videos on Youtube and making my detangling potion made of Aloe Vera gel and water, I decided to add just a bit of essential oil. I went over to my local health food store and smelt over ten oils from: hibiscus, eucalyptus, orange, lavender and I came across lime oil. I was intrigue so and  must admit it was so intoxicating. I instantly fell in love. If you have never smelt the natural fragrances I mean the pure essentials oils you must.

So, What is lime oil?

Lime oil is an essential oil and like many essential oil serves a great benefit when mix with many carrier oils. As shown in the picture above it is derived from limes. I experimented with Castor oil and lime oil for my hair care, often times I would add argan oil. My most effective results was mixing argan oil and lime oil to combat my sudden breaks which I am most cetain was caused by stress.

Natural Alternatives to Tighthen your skin

Lastnight I really wanted to
do something for myself, do
my nails and just relax.
I spent the night going
through some sites reading
up on what  to use. I decided
to go through my fridge and
see what I had first that
would possibly be a good
natural treatment for my skin.
I decided on eggs, but what
could I possibly do with eggs?

Egg whites tighten, nourish
and moisturise the skin
leaving your face feeling
smooth and soft. Many
women say they do not see
any long term effects
when doing this treatment.
I think with natural remedies
it is like hair growth,
consistency, and patience
is the key.

Egg whites are low in cholesterol and high protein, high in calcium, potassium and iron.
Egg whites can also be used to help your complexion.
  • can help reduce the appearance of minor breakouts
  • reduce the appearance oof enlarged pores

What you should know about your skin type

For oily skin:

Make sure to use only the yolk (clear parts of the egg) if you have oily skin or add a few drops
of lemon juice. It will help eliminate oil. The egg whites dry out oil this is why it is better to use
egg whites.

For Dry Skin:

Egg yolk moisturises (yellow parts of the egg) help pit back moisturise to your skin. If you
have dry skin apply 1tsp honey to your mixture to help soften and moisturise your skin.

Things you will need

  • 1 Organic egg *always use the highest quality eggs you can find*
  • Small bowl or dish
  • Small whisk or fork
  • Unused paint brush or fingers
Procedures

1. Always start with a freshly cleansed unmoisturized face

2. Break a large organic egg into a small bowl, you can separate the yolks and use the clear parts.
Since we are using an organic egg depending on your skin type you can use both.

3. With the whisk or a fork, whip the eggs whites until have a frothy appearance to them

4. This is of course by choice Almond oil or sunflower oil you can use many Essential Oils. You
can also use honey or milk, mix all the ingredients together until it is incorporated. You can also
    use the eggs by itself.

5. Using the pads of your fingers or an unused paint brush place the mixture all over your skin
and neck, apply it in a circular motion. Apply in thin layers

6. Allow the skin tightening facial to remain on your face for 10-15 minutes

5. Rinse with cold water

6. Pat your skin dry and apply your moisturiser.

Why use an Organic Egg?

Eggs that are not organically produced may contain traces of hormones, pesticides or herbicides.
To prevent applying any of these chemicals to your face  be sure to use an organic produced egg.

Warnings

Eggs are a known allergen that cause irritations in some people. If you experience any skin
redness, itiching, burning or swelling rinse the maks immediately and contact your doctor.

How to Maintain your healthy skin **Summer to Fall**

Our skin changes every season especially if you live in a country like Canada. I find that my skin goes through many changes from summer 4o fall to winter. I can admit I have only recently figured out my skin regimen for summer. It is actually quite simple now for me. My problem is oily skin and cleaning out my pores as they can become clog due to the weather.

As summer comes to an end my focus for my skin is to also protect my skin from the harsh winter months.

Moisturize: Use cream based product to combat dry skin, for me using natural oils tends to work for me.

Cleanse gently: Use gentle cleanses to on your skin, during the winter months your skin is more likely to let you know which products are harsh on your skin. Pay attention to your skin as harsh cleanses can strip away natural oils from the skin. Use jojoba oils which is similar to the skin's natural oil to replenish your skin if it has been severely strip. Also please note that what works for others may not always work for you.

Exfoliate: This has become one of my daily routines, and so far I often here "your glowing" nt because am pregnant but becuase my skin has really flourish this summer which I hope to carry into winter. The summer months bring sunburns, chlorine and oil have dulled your complexion, exfoliating can take off some dead cells and give your skin a fresher and more radiant appearance.

*Exfoliating allows your skin’s surface to readily absorb other treatments.
Prepare for flare ups: In the fall many tend to experience flare up because skin conditions tend to go through cycles. Prepare yourself by having prescriptions and other natural remedies ready for you.

Have Sun Protection: Keep in mind that just because fall is here and you see the clouds setting in, we are in no way shape or form protect your skin UV ray damage. To prevent your skin from aging prematurely and to reduce your risk of developing skin cancer, apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen.

So how to transition to fall

* continue to eat healthy so your skin and boby can reap the benefits, snack on almonds and fruits
* maintain an active lifestyle at least 3 times a week
* working out in the morning for at least 30 minutes will help you feel and look better throughout the day.
* Drink lots of water
* This is the time of year your skin craves hydraton
* Adding oil to your fall regimen will prevent dryness and cracking
* Exfoliate your body and hands as well again making sure not to strip the skin of essential oils.
* Use cream on your hands to keep them moisturized
* For your feet use a foot scrub daily t/ mainta)n smooth and soft feet.

Remember to do your research and understand your body as you would with your hair!!

Mix a bit of olive oil with sugat in a small bowl. You will have to mix until you get your desired consistency.
Gently rub the mixture on your lips, massaging in a circular motion, some people use a washcloth, or toothbrush I prefer to use my hands.
Rinse the mixture with warm water, it's okay to swallow a bit of it, it's all natural.
Remember to rehydrate the sensitive skin you just exposed by putting on your favourite lip balm to give you a soft and smooth
Other ingredients include sugar and honey, follow the same instructions as listed above.

Getting Rid of Dark Spots (Part 1)

Over the past week I really needed a break to just write some new material so I have been posting here and there but I just had to breathe for a minute. I was also tired and ill so I needed much rest. It was so nice to receive email asking if I am okay, thank you guys made my days. I am back now and have some great material for you guys to come and great giveaways. Am Excited!!. I try to answer questions I am asked and also share what I am currently researching. I came up with a few tips, advice, and home remedies to get rid of those stubborn dark spots. The reason being even though my skin has cleared from the acne, it is taking a long time for my dark spots to go away. Now they aren’t as visible as I may lead you to believe. I don’t have that much, however, looking at my face I can see them. If you’re like me and on this journey for a beautiful healthier you it will bother you the way it bothers me.
In my label entitled SKIN CARE  I discuss ExfoliationFace care: Acne, Oily Skin, I briefly discuss dark spots. If you’re having problems getting rid of acne that could be a number of reasons why I advise to refer to the past article where I also briefly discuss dark spots In this article I will go into more detail about dark spots in his article and so much more to come
We all want a smooth, even and clear complexion. Although you may be cleansing your skin often, it does not prevent hyper-pigmentation or dark spots. Dark spots are characterized by pockets of discoloured skin that remain even after pimples have disappeared. It can be caused by internal or external factors, illness or hepatic problems.
Causes:
·       Iron
·       Hormonal changes during pregnancy
·       Menopause
·       Deficiency in certain vitamins
·       Minerals (such as calcium)
·       Increase In melanin (occurs after the skin is inflamed or irritated
·       Over exposure to the sun.

Many dermatologists suggest that you consult with your dermatologist to make sure that your spots are benign before applying creams or sun block. For others, a skin peel may also be required. I have never done this myself but that is what is recommended for some cases. Dark spots can be remedied at home as well.
Tips to get rid for those persistent dark spots:
·       Sunscreen daily with SPF 15 or higher (use sunscreen to block the sun that darkens the skin, and prevent skin cancer)
·       Leave your face alone, do not pick at pimples or zits, this will cause scarring
·       Drink lots of fluid and water
·       Eat foods such as; cucumbers, lemons, tomatoes, and oranges, these help in purifying the blood and removing toxins from the body.
·       Exfoliate the skin at least once or twice a week

Remedies:
Flaxseed oil is a great supplement it is rich in vitamin E and boosts blood flow and circulation to support healthy skin cell growth.
Chamomile and lemon juice are natural bleaching agents and will lighten the dark acne spots. You can use chamomile tea bags and add lemon juice, refrigerate the solution every time you use it. Do not keep each batch of solutions for more than 2 weeks. This can be used as often as desired.
Vitamin E oil is a personal favourite; apply this after your chamomile and lemon juice solution. Vitamin E encourages cell regeneration, vitamin E can be thick and oily so it is best absorb at night. Massage your dark spot for about 1 minute, this will help your body absorb the oil and circulate new skin cell growth under the scars.
Makeup:

This was actually suggested by a makeup artist for those of you with dark spots, acne or freckles.
Freckles-select a foundation that is as dark as the freckles, however you can get a masked look so even though it is not the most recommended some prefer to do this.
Select a sheer foundation you can see some of your skin through, get a colour of your freckles, or spots and colour of your tone, this will give you a clean look and won’t appear ashy.
Remember that you have to care for your skin as much as you care for your natural hair, yes it requires the same amount of work to maintain healthy glowing skin.

Exfoliation: My skin's healthy glow

                                                           source: blackgirlsrock

Why do I have a dull complexion?
Some causes of a dull complexion include but are not limited to:
  • Wind, sun, humbidity, temperature changes
  • Lack of essential vitamins
  • Slow blood circulation
  • Stree and tiredness
  • Smoking
  • Alcohol abuse
  • Eat plenty of foods rich in fatty acids (walnuts, salmon, chicken)
  • Dull complexion can be a sign of essential fat deficiency.
The best way to brighten a dull complexion is to exfoliate your face at least twice or once a week. The dead skin that is left on your skin when you do not exfoliate gives the skin the appearance of a dull and lifeless look. When you exfoliate not only do you remove dead skin cells but you also remove excess sebum tat causes the pores to clog. If you produce to much sebum and you do not exfoliate this will result in blackheads, whiteheads, pimples, and acne. This clogs the sebaceous pores which results in the frequent breakouts.

How to exfoliate:
Scrub using a gentle circular motion.
Do not exfoliate your skin for more than 2 to 3 minutes.
Make sure your exfoliate is appropriate for your skin type.
Make sure it does not contain harsh chemicals.
Avoid contact with sensitive areas such as the eyes.
Do brightening face mask once or twice a week to correct pigmentation irregularities and prevent the appearance of further discolourations. This mask can be left on for about 10 to fifteen minutes.
Massage your face to improve blood circulation. This should be done every day once a day after you have rid your skin of makeup and dirt. Massaging the skin will remove the unattractive fleshiness, tightens tissues and muscles and increases blood circulation which is essential for a radiant skin.
Steam your face once a week to help loosen debris embedded in the skin. When you steam the face you widen the clogged pores and soften the skin to cleanse away impurities: traces of makeup, dust, sebum and dead skin cells.
Drink plenty of water to keep your skin and body hydrated.
Make sure that your skin is clean and well moisturize when applying your makeup products.
Exercise daily to improve blood circulation and metabolism.
Exfoliate
Remember to exfoliate the skin after you have cleansed the skin, whether it is on your face or body. Do not over exfoliate your skin, this will allow the skin to dry and cause wrinkle development overtime.
DIY Exfoliation:
Oatmeal Scrub

2tbsp of oatmeal
2tbsp of brown sugar
¼ cup of milk
Mix into a paste and gently scrub your face, rinse and moisturize. You can also apply a toner to your face and then moisturize for better results.
Brown sugar and Honey scrub
2tbsp of brown sugar
1tbsp of honey
Mix into a thick paste and apply to face, gently massage, rinse, tone and moisturize.

Honey is a natural moisturizer, apply a thin layer of honey all over the face and wash it off with tepid after 15 minutes.

If your skin is oily you also have to moisturize, it is not just for dry skin. Skin that is moisturized regularly has fewer lines, a smooth texture, less flaking and radiates a healthy glow once taken care for. In humid weather be careful of the amount of moisturizing and when to moisturizing your skin.

Mask for your skin

A homemade mask is a great way to improve the skin; it is also a great way to relax. I highly recommend lemon juice when looking to lighten your skin as a natural alternative to even your skin tone. It works wonders. Below are a few recipes to help you get started to a healthier glow.

Lemon juice, flour, turmeric power- Mix together to form a paste, Apply all over the face, let the paste dry and then rinse. The acid in the lemon juice treat dark spots on the face. Lemon juice will also leave a tingling sensation on the face. Turmeric powder brightens the look of your skin.

Lemon Juice Mask

1tbsp rice powder
1tbsp corn flour
Few drops of lemon juice
Add water
Mix into a paste and apply all over the face, gently massaging in a circular motion, leave on for a few minutes, rinse, tone and moisturize.

I got the brown sugar recipe from themoptopmaven and she also had a great recipe for a toner it is green tea and apple cider vinegar mix together. It is as simple as make plain green tea and mixing the apple cider vinegar together in a spray bottle. When you are ready to use it just spray on the face and you’re done.

Exfoliation has helped my skin get rid of dead cells, and acne which I got throughout the summer. Using natural remedies I was able to gain my complexion back and get rid of the acne. It happened so quickly just by changing the way I cared for my skin and learning so much about my skin, and skin type I was able to see results in a few weeks. I hope this helps if you have skin problems as this may not be the end all and be all you might require more changes whether it’s your eating habits or makeup. You can find more articles Click Here

Oily Skin

source: sodahead

I discovered something so life altering to me and my skin. I now know how to take care of my oily skin! Some of you may wonder well isn’t that something you should know, I thought so myself. The thing is I thought I knew how to take care of my oily skin, but I was wrong. I spent the last year having some major problems with my skin throughout the summer it just got worst and worst. There were days I had some serious breakouts on my face, sometimes so embarrassed I wore so much makeup, it is a relief to share this article with you because I now have flawless skin. It has become my mission to retain my skins health and even have skin that is unbelievably smooth. Through my research for Dejavunaturals I am learning so much and experiencing so much.
Causes of Oily skin:
·       Sebaceous glands: This is what is responsible for oily skin, over productive of these glands and leaves excess amounts of sebum on your skin make it prone to breakouts.
It is necessary for anyone with Oily skin to keep their skin clean; otherwise it will be prone to form acne lesions. Sebum can make the skin sticky attracting dirt from the environment clogging the pores by increasing sebum secretion. Oily skin has open and enlarged pores. Make sure to wash your face a few times a day to remove sebum. It is especially necessary to wash your face at night if you wear make-up. The residues can be the enemy to oily skin, be gentle with your skin and try to prevent the spread of infection if you have acne or broken skin. Massaging the skin improves circulation.
·       Hereditary
·       Diet
·       Hormone levels
·       Cosmetics you use
·       Clogged pores
·       Humidity and hot weather
These causes may vary from skin to skin and could be a reaction from birth control pills, medication to the simplest things such as having a clean face.
Good News: This type of skin is generally slower to show fine lines, wrinkles and discolourations.
Bad News: Oily skin tends to have frequent breakouts, large pores and a greasy appearance from time to time.
What to do?
  • Cleanse you face daily with water. I use a clean wash cloth and soak it in warm water and apply it to my face to remove oil from my pores so I am able to clear my skin from sebum. I gently pat my skin and rub away any dirt or oil. I may wash or apply one of my DIY face wash and then apply moisturizer.
  • You have to find a product that works well for you; it will not work the same for every skin type or every person. This can be hard as it took a while for me to find products that work. I have also opted to make a lot of products for my skin at home. One of my greatest inspirations was moptopmaven. Her blog has a great recipe for your skin combining oils that do wonders for the skin.
  • Avoid using harsh cleansers that may dry out the skin and make the skin become even oilier.
  • Use sunscreens that won’t clog pores and are oil free. Oily skin has also been proven to be hereditary. Shea butter is a great natural sunscreen but should be using sparingly.
  • Do touch your face constantly, dirty hands and oils from your hands can lead to breakouts. Sensitive skin must be treated with the same care as natural hair.
  • Stop over cleansing: Do not cleaning your face four times a day, if you are using some store brought products you may be damaging the skin or stripping the skin.
  • Change your makeup frequently: This is very important if you wear a lot of makeup you have to make sure to not only clean your face before you put the make-up on but after. Make sure your face is CLEAN. The last thing you want is the makeup to go into those enlarged pores and stay there to contribute to your already oily skin.
  • Use a clay mask, Bentonite clay is amazing for the face: It works wonders
Oily and sensitive skin:
This skin type requires products that won’t irritate the skin. When it comes to the skin as our hair it can be a trial and error as I have found out.
What to do for sensitive skin?
  • Wash your skin twice a day: use face washes that can absorb the extra oil from you face.
  • Homemade Ingredients: You can use oatmeal and honey to clean the skin. Apply to the skin and leave on for 15 minutes and rinse with cold water. Oatmeal is great for absorbing oil from the face and honey as we is a great natural astringent that tightens oily skin and helps to prevent overproduction of sebum on the skin.
  • Occupy your hands: Try not to touch your face; you do not want to transfer oils from another surface to your face or foods.
  • Apply makeup products that are water based: oil base makeup maybe too heavy for the skin and only adds to the oil that you already have. Make sure to wash away makeup from the skin and allow the skin to breathe. Buy products that are made for oily skin.
  • Allow the skin to breathe: A lot of times when we have breakouts it could also be because the skin cannot breathe. The best thing to do is remove any excess oil or dead skin. Cleanse your skin gently to allow the skin to breathe. Believe it or not this will allow your skin to shine again.
  • Exfoliate your skin at least once or twice a week: I have been using brown sugar and honey once in a while I will use oatmeal instead of brown sugar.
  • Steam your face: I do this often as it allows me to open my pores and remove excess oil, and also get rid of dead skin that may be clogging. It can be very relaxing and a great way to get rid of breakouts. This can be done before you wash you face or apply any DIY face remedies.
Cleansing your Oily skin:
Once I figured out that my skin was producing too much sebum and is prone to breakouts I began to understand what I needed to do. I have read many articles, watch many videos and read books to understand what I had to do since I already knew what sebum meant for the scalp. I began removing the dead skin from my pores to prevent blockage. I had a family member mention to use lime and cucumber, baking soda (which i have yet to try baking soda, I am weary about trying this, so I will have to do some research on this).
Essential Oils for Oily skin:
Sage, Lemon, Juniper, Grape seed oil, Bergamot, Peppermint oil, Vitamin E
Ayurveda and Home Remedies:
  • Lime and Cucumber: Squeeze the juice from both the lime and cucumber mix together and apply to face before you wash or take a hot bath.
  • Aloe Vera: Aloe Vera is not only great for the hair but also for the skin because of its healing properties.
  • Apple cider vinegar: I use this to remove excess oil especially on day that I wear make-up. I do not wear makeup often as is one a quest to have natural glowing beautiful skin. The acid helps to remove the excess oil from your skin
  • Lemon juice, flour, turmeric powder: Mix together and apply all over the face, once dry, rinse. Lemon juice is a great home remedy for dark spots and clearing the complexion. Turmeric brightens the look. Your skin will fell renewed. Turmeric is also used for many other herbal remedies and some drink it as a tea.
  • Vitamin E: I use this some night after my face wash as a moisturize I find it does wonders for my skin. Vitamin E is a powerful antioxidant it prevents skin damage and is great for soften the skin.
  • Honey: Hones is a natural moisturizer, apply a thin layer of honey all over the face and wash it off. This can also be done as mention before with sugar to exfoliate the skin.
Clay masks Recipe:
Green Clay
2 drop of lemon juice
1tble honey
1tbsp of plain yogurt
2 drops of lavender oil
Add water and make a paste, apply all over the face and neck, once dry rinse. Clay is used by many because of its deep cleansing properties.
Diet: Our diet is important what you eat often appears on the skin. Avoid fried foods, junk food, and soft drinks. The intake of fat in your diet should be reduced as well and your fluid intake increase. Drinking lots of water will rid your body of toxins and keep your skin hydrated. This is also great for my natural hair ladies looking to maximize their healthy hair growth. Include proteins, fresh fruits and vegetables to your diet.
