Natural Alternatives to Tighthen your skin




Lastnight I really wanted to
do something for myself, do
my nails and just relax.
I spent the night going
through some sites reading
up on what  to use. I decided
to go through my fridge and
see what I had first that
would possibly be a good
natural treatment for my skin.
I decided on eggs, but what
could I possibly do with eggs?



Egg whites tighten, nourish
and moisturise the skin
leaving your face feeling
smooth and soft. Many
women say they do not see
any long term effects
when doing this treatment.
I think with natural remedies
it is like hair growth,
consistency, and patience
is the key.







Egg whites are low in cholesterol and high protein, high in calcium, potassium and iron.
Egg whites can also be used to help your complexion.
  • can help reduce the appearance of minor breakouts
  • reduce the appearance oof enlarged pores

What you should know about your skin type

For oily skin:

Make sure to use only the yolk (clear parts of the egg) if you have oily skin or add a few drops
of lemon juice. It will help eliminate oil. The egg whites dry out oil this is why it is better to use
egg whites.

For Dry Skin:

Egg yolk moisturises (yellow parts of the egg) help pit back moisturise to your skin. If you
have dry skin apply 1tsp honey to your mixture to help soften and moisturise your skin.

Things you will need

  • 1 Organic egg *always use the highest quality eggs you can find*
  • Small bowl or dish
  • Small whisk or fork
  • Unused paint brush or fingers
Procedures

1. Always start with a freshly cleansed unmoisturized face

2. Break a large organic egg into a small bowl, you can separate the yolks and use the clear parts.
    Since we are using an organic egg depending on your skin type you can use both.

3. With the whisk or a fork, whip the eggs whites until have a frothy appearance to them

4. This is of course by choice Almond oil or sunflower oil you can use many Essential Oils. You
    can also use honey or milk, mix all the ingredients together until it is incorporated. You can also
    use the eggs by itself.

5. Using the pads of your fingers or an unused paint brush place the mixture all over your skin
    and neck, apply it in a circular motion. Apply in thin layers

6. Allow the skin tightening facial to remain on your face for 10-15 minutes

5. Rinse with cold water

6. Pat your skin dry and apply your moisturiser.


Why use an Organic Egg?

Eggs that are not organically produced may contain traces of hormones, pesticides or herbicides.
To prevent applying any of these chemicals to your face  be sure to use an organic produced egg.

Warnings

Eggs are a known allergen that cause irritations in some people. If you experience any skin
redness, itiching, burning or swelling rinse the maks immediately and contact your doctor.

My Natural Hair Regime 2012 Update


Hey all it:s been such a long time since I have update you all. I have a brief update on my hair and how 
I am wearing it now. Pics are below.

Natural Hair Regime 2012 

1. Deep conditioning

From the first day that I started my hair journey I have continued to deep condition my hair every weekend or at least every two weeks. I have used many different conditioners over the last year and more (almost two years) in my hair. My hair seems to really love deep conditioning treatments. Some weeks I will only do a 20 minute deep treatment other weeks I do 5 hours or overnight.

2. Products I use

Castor Oil, Olive oil, coconut oil, edge control, eco styler gel, shea moisture conditioning treatment, aloe vera gel, I use eggs for my protein treatments, natural shea butter, jojoba oil, hello hydration conditioner, argan oil products conditioner and shampoo, live clean products conditioner and repair treatment. These are things I have used in the last six months. If I do not have a product I tend to use what I have, I am definitely far from a product junky and when it comes to my hair, I try to only experiment with what I believe will work great for my hair and always test it out first. The last thing I want is to have any problems with my hair at this point in my hair journey. One of the many things I will be implement into my regimen is an ayurdedic hair care products.

Protein Treatments

When my journey first started my hair seemed to like nothing more than my conditioning and protein treatments. I find that almost two years into my journey My hair really does not like protein treatments as often as I would like, I try to do my protein treatments every 4-6 weeks. Depending on when I remember, I don't have a set schedule for it .

3. My wigs

The two pics posted above is both wigs, yes they are wigs and I love them both, I really enjoy my wigs as they make me feel great at experimented with different looks, I love changing my hair up and trying new things so these looks work out great. I made my first wig last year and ever since that moment I have been in love with the idea of being able to throw on any look I feel like for the day. I think the best part about wigs for me is being able to take it off at the end of the day or just wear my hair, try any style I want with my hair, and be able to change it in an instant. I love that I have access to take care of my hair the way I want. I have also done the XGOLDN inspired faux ponytail pics posted below


4.Living Healthy

Lately I have really been trying to get healthy more than ever. I try to eat healthy all the time and maintain a great diet, I workout at least three times a week, eat lots of fruits and water. It started last summer and I have also stayed away from sodium and sugars.

5. Trimming my ends

I prefer not to trim my ends very often maybe every six months or whenever I feel like it needs to be done, This week is the first time I have trimmed my hair since January or February I believe which is a really long time. I really did not need to trim my hair. I absolutely refuse to put scissors to my hair if I don't need to. I will spend my time detangling, removing knots, and then if I have to I will trim or dust.

Helpful tips

  • Always remember our hair needs moisture water water water
  • Make sure to keep you scalp clean, remove any build up from the scalp
  • Use natural oils to penetrate the scalp and hair. 
  • For your scalp jojoba oil mimics our own natural hair oil called sebum and coconut oil is light enough it will not caused your pores to clog the way a heavy oil such as castor oil will. 
  • Eat healthy, you are what you eat, that goes for your skin, hair, nails, teeth and everything else in between
  • Stay away from stress, try to relax and enjoy your life. 
  • Be creative with your hair styles, you will be surprise at what watching a few youtube videos can do for you and your hair. There is no harm in trying new styles with your hair, you just might like it.
  • Remember to protect your ends at all time, they are the oldest part of our hair, try protective styles such as buns, braids, or twist.
  • Be gentle and kind to your hair, do not pull, tug and rip your hair out while combing or styling
  • Wear a silk wrap/ or cover your pillow in a silk pillow case at night to protect your hair
  • Remain patient with your hair it will grow and eventually all your hard work will pay off
  • Finally please do not compare your hair journey, whether it be natural, relax, or anything else you choose to anyone's else around you, on youtube, or anywhere else.

Benefits of Pre Poo




Recently I have started to do pre-poo very often with my weekly treatments, it seems 
to be working great at keeping away my fairy knots and tangles. 


What are the benefits of pre-pooing?


There are many benefits to pre-pooing which I have recently discovered myself. 
Pre-poos help to protect your hair from the harsh shampooing process. The buildup 
from most products we use lies on our scalp and not so much on our hair. This buildup 
must be removed to allow your scalp to breathe for healthy growing hair. Pre poos help 
to condition the hair building a barrier between the hair and the harsh chemicals in shampoos. 

The main idea is to use oils or a conditioner to create this barrier and 
allowing the many knots to easily be removed. Pre pooing before a detangle and wash 
can help reduce breakageand shedding that occurs Natural hair absords every thing 
around it including oils, conditioner and water. Our hair is like a big sponge and can soak 
up the oils and conditioner into our hair shaft. 


Wet or Dry Hair?

This is really up to you as a natural, you will find that many will do either or. For me 
prefer to pre-poo my hair on wet hair. I find that my hair is more manageable when my 
is wet and easier to detangle in this process. 

How often should you pre-poo?

I pre-poo at least once a week for the most part. There has been months where I have 
not pre-poo but deep condition my hair using Essential Oils and Carrier Oils. This 
questions again is very suggestive because what  may work for my hair may not work 
for yours. Pre poo is beneficial as it has been prove to soften the hair and also provide 
a barrier for the damages that the wash process may cause. It is necessary to pay 
close attention your hair, because over time you will know what is requires this week.



Step by Step guide to Pre poo


Method 1


  • you can use oils or conditioner
  • apply product to hair
  • cover with a scarf
  • leave on for a few hours and rinse


Method 2


  • Apply oils or conditioner to dry hair
  • Cover hair with a wet towel
  • Place a plastic cap over the wet towel
  • leave on for a few hours and rinse


Method 3


  • Apply oils or conditioner to wet or dry hair
  • Place plastic cap over the hair
  • Sit under the dryer for 20-30 minutes


You should immediately notice the difference, feel and moisture of your hair.

others you can use that may not be on the list.  You can also choose to make your own natural 
pre-treatment at home (making my own from essentialand carrier oils seem to work great for 
my hair)

Ayuvedic Pre Poo Treatment 


Brahmimake s hair darker and denser, Strengthens the hair roots and controls, prevent   hair thinning and hair loss
Methi:Helps combat baldness and hair thining
Neem: Antibacterial and Anti-dandruff agent
Coconut Milk: Promotes hair growth and stops hair loss, adds protein to mixture
Coconut Oil: Moisturizes hair at the root along with strengthening properties


Tips

To much protein can cause the hair to be brittle, hard and rigid, this in turn can cause alot of damage
to your ends and hair itself.

To much conditioning can cause the hair to be limp and fragile.

My experience:

I absolutely love using coconut oil in my hair, shea butter, aloe vera gel, olive oil and
castor oil. These seem to be part of my weekly staple products for the protection and
maintenance of my hair.

Although I have read most of these preventative methods, I must say I have tried them all.
I find that my hair loves conditioner and especially loves when I deep condition for a long time.
Yes, I do deep condition over night every few months, and deep condition for a few hours every
1-2 weeks depending on time and the protective style am wearing. When I first started my journey
I would deep conditiong every week and protein more than I probably should have. I used all
natural products and eggs for my protein. To this day I still believe that what may work for my
hair just may not work for yours and that is something we all need to discover. However basic
care such as:


  • Keeping the scalp clean
  • Protective styling
  • Simple styles not too tight or pulling at the hair
  • using a wide tooth comb
  • detangling carefully before combing
  • deep conditioning
  • eat well, and live healthy


These are standards steps that seem to work for anyone natural or relax

To use or not to use : Soybean oil

If your like me you tend to experiment with what you
have in your cupboard collection for you natural
hair. Recently, I ran out of products to use on my hair
and randomly mix conditioners and any oils I could find
to make my pre-poo.

This probably could have turned out bad but it went pretty well, considering the results of my hair.

Unfortunately I did not take any pics but I will be sure to try this again in the near future, this time with before and after pics.

I decided to do a pre-poo to try and combat those stubborn fairy knots that drove me insane.

I picked up the coconut oil, castor oil, and olive oil and realized (damn) I want to use more oils. I knew I had some cooking oils so search through my cupboard and decided to do some research on soybean oil and hopefully learn something new and great for my hair.

There are mixed research on soybean oil, like anything
else for us natural it's a trial and error or success!

Soybean oil is high in lipids and amino proteins, and can be used for purposes of medicinal,
therapeutic,  and culinary. This oil is great when used to replenish dry, damaged hair allowing
the hair to be coated to create shine and manageability.




Some key points

  • soya oil is cheap
  • high smoke point
  • does not contain much saturated fat
  • no cholesterol


What are the benefits of soybean oil?

One of the main benefits of soya oil is moisture that it provides for your natural hair. As you
all may know by now natural hair absords moisture  and it is in constant need for it, this is a
great oil to add to any oil mixture although your hair may not adsorb this oil as easily as it would
adsorb an oil like coconut oil or jojoba oil this oil is great at providing a coating effect for better
shine when used alone.
It is definitely more effective when mixed with other essential and carrier oils.

What is soybean oil made of?

Soybean oil is an oil that is extract from the seeds of soybean.

How often can I use soya oil?

It is light enough to use a a daily conditioner, however like anything else it may not agree with
you.From my research I have learned it is best when used as a mixture once a week placed in
your mixtures of conditioner (deep conditioning) if you are unsure of the good and bad
consequences it may cause to your hair.

My experience with soya oil

Although I did use this oil a while back, I had no negative effects on my hair. My hair seemed
toenjoy what I had done to it. I have only used the soya oil twice and maybe that is not long
enough to give the type of feedback I would love to but I can tell you that between those two
times I had no clumps of hair falling out, my hair was soft and of course that could also be
contributed to the many oils and natural conditioners I mixed for my treatment. I would certainly
try this oil out again but I wont be using this oil by itself. My hair seems to love the consistency
of what I have used and been doing so I will continue to do so. I would recommend using this
oil with essential and carrier oils I have linked articles in this post with more information on both.

What is the shelf life of soybean oil?

Like many oils soybean oils have a shelf life of 1 year and is best to be stored at room temperature

What are some other uses of Soybean oil?

Non-food products include bio diesel, inks, plasticizers, crayons, paints, and soy candles.

What to know about oils?

Oils rich in polyunsaturated oils tend to be larger and therefore cannot manoeuvres around or
through the cuticle easily. These such oils are soybean oil, corn oil, sunflower oil. The saturated
and mono saturated oils are compact in size and therefore can manoeuvres around through the
cuticle some of these oils include (castor oil, Shea butter, avocado oil)

Naturalicious: Art through Inspiration

Hey guys it's been such a long time....I hope you are all well and enjoying summer. I took the time to really enjoy my summer this year, workout, spend time with family and get healthy. I am enjoying the progress of my new body and working towards an extremely flat stomach. I must admit it gets easier everyday to balance out my new life style. I really wanted to share some inspiration today as I will be doing a few updates to the blog in the next month. Settling into a great position in my life has enabled me the time and confidence to really focus on accomplishing some things before the year is done.
