Music xoxo

I got up this morning in such a high. This has been in rotation in my ipod for days now, well weeks, years really. I love this song to be honest. I love kid sister. I know you all must think I listen to every type of artist but that's because I do. I love music anything music to be honest, a good artist is a good artist to me. I think I like the more out there, the crazier, the better for me. For the most part it's my workout song and it just has this very unlining happy feel to it that makes me want to spin around in a cycle and dance!!

Hope this wakes you up to a great morning..

Fashionistas I love

I am so in love with fashion. Yes, if I have not said it enough, well I am. It makes me so happy and I love dressing up am like a kid in a candy store especially when it's vintage, unique and different stores. I believe we all have our own styles and I love when you can still be playful but sexy.

I dont think that fashion should leave you homeless or broke and labels arent always the best finds. I find that you can really play with your style when you make it or incorporate many pieces whether it be from thrift stores, I went through mom's vintage pieces growing up or pull out those 'never die pieces" at the back of your closet you will be surpirse the looks you can create.

These are some of my favourite women to look to and even though some are just coming out if you follow them you will know they are always on it. They are always having fun with fashion and still remaining themselves, so I hope you all do the same and have fun...

Art through Inspiration: Books

I remember going through highschool and college reading all these books. Well a few came out after that, but I love them equally. The first time I read sister souljah "I lost my mind" I love it. I think because it was the first time I was really introduced to black writers, I could fall in love with. Yep, I was a nerd reading everything else, but, this was juicy. To my surprise who knew that reading 'No Disrespect' by "SISTER SOULJAH" would change my life. It changed my life it made me so aware of the men around me, myself and the things they did, what I did, my conscious mind and I think at that moment I began to change.

I can sit here and say that I have not made the best choices when it comes to men, lord knows I have not. I have however learned from my experiences. I went through a 'I dont care stage', where you just dont like the guy, dont care to talk to him, but still yet you are. Now, that I look back these were men I would had never talk to, if I was in my right mind. I say my right mind because I was so hurt coming out of a long relationship that broke me down. It took me years to pull myself together, three years to be exact. SUCKS!!!

Am glad I realize what I went through and how something like that can really alter your life, your opinions, and you as a person. I am glad I can look back and smile at them, they were my choices so I will own them.
However, I will say you let people treat you how they want,  if you dont say enough is enough. So am glad I  walked away, stop talking to most and am glad it made me stronger, happier and in many ways appreciate life alot more.

ON TO THE NEXT.....

After that life epiphany I was so disappointed when I read her latest book 'Midnight' I was so disappointed. I brought the book months ago and I read a few pages and put it down. It took me almost 6 months to try to read it and when I did am ashamed to say, well, NO AM NOT! I skipped to the back of the book and finish reading it. I remember the louder "that's it, argh thank God I didnt read this", now this is my personal opinion. I am sure there are lots of people that love it. However my 16 year old cousin ran down the stairs saying "really, really, that's it! am disappointed", and with a long pause I could not stop laughing.

I realize it was not so much the book it was the content in which it was written. I am tired of the stereotypical topics being written over and over by black authors. I am on the hunt for new authors that excite me, and books I enjoy. I do read other material but the reason am talking about black authors because I can find books written by other races of authors on so many topics but when it comes to black authors, black movies it's the same thing over and over. It'S like watching a Tyler Perry movie, dont get me wrong I am so proud of his accomplishments, I like him. I am just annoyed by what is being shoved into my face, we dont have much options, unless you go unknown which sometimes is a great idea.

For now, I sit staring at my book shelf reading the titles, browsing the web for great blogs and articles, and reading my own material which seems to excite me. Until I find the next best thing, I guess I try my best to support our business FOR US, BY US.  I EXPECT greatness.

I hope you all are having a wonderful week, I am working on a great video, am enjoying making videos, there fun. Like I promised they could only get better as I learn more and more. If you have questions, style ideas, email me ilovdejavu@gmail.com I always respond, or you never know post a video!!! Until Next time beautifuls...

Never Give up

There are some days where you just need some inspiration. I have this in my house, and ever so often I turn and look at it because it reminds of me of where I am going, and how far I have come.

After my accident I got really depressed and this is probably the first time I have really shared this on my blog. I stayed away as much as I could from anyone willing to be close to me. I am not a person that likes to fail and at that point I felt like I did. I also felt very alone because I almost lost my life.

I remember waking up and not being able to breathe, I pannick but remembered to stay calm. I thought someone was dead, "what did I do". Despite my injuries being the person I am, I still was able to make sure the other person in there car was okay.

Through that experience I learned that people can be so cold, not that I did not know that before. I just remember thinking she did not care to check on me but was more concerned with her car. It did not matter to her whether I was alive or dead, she ran around her car more concerned for metal.

Now I am not saying that you should not be concerned for the things you have but I truly believe that materialistic things will not be forever. Someone's life is much more important than a car. I decided am no longer doing anythig half-ass am doing it t perfection. I have decided if I cant get my event right I will postpone it because I wont settle for less. I am not going to have it do but not in a half-ass way (excuse my language). If you have dreams, you have to give it your all.

I guess am sharing this because for the last few days I have been so down, everything is moving so slowly for me building a business, all the things I want to accomplish. I feel like when will it pay off but am trying to be so patient. I am trying to really figure out what to do with my life, crazy I do so many things, how can I focus on one. Well, am back making music so if that takes off I 'll be happy but am happy writing, I'll get it right eventually I will.

I even got frustrated with my hair almost cut it all off, but I wouldnt do that again, am happy with the results am getting. I dont know why I feel so low or what I can do to bring me back up but to write. I recently started writing for a online magazine but when I checked my articles they were not posted. I mean it's been weeks and am a quick writer. I say whats on my mind I have well thought out articles done in no time, because it's what I love to do so it's natural to me now, second nature.

Besides that I have had other drama to deal with and am just trying not to have any enemies or hard feelings so am being the bigger person when it has nothing to be with me, life is just to short for it all so I said forgot it I will handle it myself.

So now am sitting on my leather couch and am thinking about so many things, I know this may come across as so depressing but I just want you all to know I have down days too jus like you. Someone said I always seem so happy I am, am happy to be alive and healthy, happy to have family. I should not be complaining but it was not always this way. I have had a rough life but it made me a much better person.

I want you all to know that you can never give up on your dreams, you can never let anyone take them away from you. Work hard for the things you want in your life and hopefully eventually it will pay off for you. Dont look at what anyone else has, you dont know how they got it or what they had to do to get there. Try to keep positive people in your life and around you. Remember family, good family is better than any stranger.... sometimes. It does not take away from the amazing angel strangers that may walk into your life. Be positive, sometimes this is hard but people respond well to positive people. Be human, be kind, sensitive, loving, caring, forgiving, it's okay to ake mistakes, fall in love, dis like someone you're human. Remember to do onto others as you would want them to do unto you.

For now that's all I could go on and on but i'll end it with this NEVER NEVER NEVER GIVE UP

Natural Remedies to Remove build up from your Natural Hair

I have been getting alot of emails about removing build-up from your natural hair. What to use? I want a natural way to do this? There are so many ways to do this with out spending alot of money. I have done some research and of course from my own experience here are a few DO's that work...

Apple Cider Vinegar Rinse

This product is so great to remove build-up. I have spoken about my love for this product because it works for me. To be honest I do this once a week because I use my leave-in very lightly everyday, some days I do skip it but you have to always make sure that your scalp is clarifed so it can breathe. It needs to breathe in order to grow and be healthy.

Apple cider vinegar rinse is an acidic rinse. It restores the natural PH balance of your hair and closes the cuticle, because it closes the cuticles this creates smoother, shinier hair. Apple cider vinegar rinse will remove shampoo, conditoner, and product buildup. It kills bacteria that causes dandruff,  itchy scalp and will also kill lice problems.

Things you will need:

Apple cider vinegar use about 1/2 a cup depending on your hair length
Spray bottle
Hair clips
2 parts of water

Once you have condition your hair, spray the mix of ACV on your scalp and gently massage, the smell is strong but it subsides after a few minutes. Rinse the mis out of your hair and there you have it. Repeat this once a week if you have alot of build up, remember to put a leave in on your damp hair so it absords and puts the natural oils back into your hair that has been removed. For more on this visit my natural hair guide.

Ingredients you can try:

Jojoba oil:

I am so in love with this oil also a staple in my closest of hair products. I do not use it all the time but do incorporate. This is great for dry scalp and many of us do suffer from this problem. It helps to rebalance sebum you can find my article on sebum

For more on carrier oils and essentail oils Click Here

Hot Oil Treatments: Jojoba Oil

2 teaspoons
1 teaspoon organic soybean or organic sunflower oil

Gently warm these oil on low heat, massage mixture into hair, wrap hair in towel or cover with shower cap or plastic wrap for 15 minutes. Shampoo and rinse. If your hair is long use more of these oils to cover your hair. You can also leave the oils longer on your hair for a deeper treatment.

Natural Shampoo for Normal Hair

1/4 water
1/4 liquid castle soap
1/2 carrier oil of your choice and essential oil

Mix the ingredients together, store in a spray bottle and use this mix whenever you are ready to shampoo your hair. It is so simple and easy.

Essential Oil Hair Cleaning Vinegar Rinse

2 cups of apple cider vinegar
10 drops of essential oil ( rosemary, clary sage, lemon)

Mix vinegar and essential oils. Store your oils in a glass botle. If this mixture sits for a few days it allows it to blend alot better.

Here is another recipe:

2 cups of ACV
2 OZ OF lavender
1 tsp of glycerin
10 drops of rose geranium (essential oil)

Mix ingredient together using boiling water and let the ingredient sit for 3-5 days. Strain and refrigerate. You can use this time and time again by pouring a small amout of the mix in a container and adding water to rinse your hair.
Herbal Rinses

Sage Rinse

1 cup water
1 tsp sage
Pour the water over the sage and let it sit until it becomes steep. Strain and use the sage water as a rinse, you can use this product to remove excessive buildup, remove oil, and promote healthier hair and scalp.

Chamomile Rinse

1cup boiling water
1 tsp chamomile flowers
Pour the water over the chamomile flowersd remain until it is steep. This rinse soothes and heals the scalp leaving it with a silky sheen.
This rinse will lighten your hair so make it might not be a good idea to use it if you are looking to darken your hair or leave the colour. I personally do not use this rinse but add it as an option for other naturals.

There you have it beautiful...Viola
